A little note to say…
…So, never give up, do not be too hard on yourself (as a dancer, easier said than done), and allow yourself to heal.
You're going to be alright!
From a Dance MUM
I’m so sorry you’ve picked up an injury and that dance & life feel up in the air. It’s time to take control of what you can control:
1) Tell someone about your injury
2) It’s okay to feel sad that you may have to miss out
3) Take your rehab seriously – consistency is key.
Love,
A Dance Mum xx
Dancer to Dancer
You’re injured. You feel your body has given up on you and you’re worrying about how long you will have to sit and watch people do what you love.
From a dancer who has recovered from multiple injuries xx
A letter from me
Dear Dancer,
I don’t really know where to start. I wish I’d had the opportunity to write to you before I was in the position I’m in now. The person who could relate to you the most was the one 10 years ago, struggling in the studio. The person who could probably give you the best advice was the one six years ago, before I started working with so many dancers in clinic.
Dear Dancer
Dear Dancer: Why I'm Collecting Letters from Injured Dancers
Injury can feel incredibly isolating.
One moment you're immersed in rehearsals, classes, and performances. The next, you're watching from the sidelines, wondering when—or if—you'll get back to doing what you love.
Would you like to submit a letter?
Things to remember;
You can choose if this is an anonymous letter or you’d like your name and a picture included. Let me know within the submission and I will contact you if needed.
Letters will be proof read and edited to ensure that they are easy to read but also don’t include anything that may be triggering to younger readers. This also means that trigger warnings may also be added before the opening of your letter if subject matters may be sensitive.
Feel free to share your story but also remember that it will be posted online!
This can be an advice letter, what you’ve learnt in your own journey or things you wish you’d known! Anything goes.
